The exhibition “Miroir du monde” at the Musée du Luxembourg brings together exceptional artworks, natural materials and ethnographic objects from the Dresden State Art Collections (Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden). Collected from different regions of the world between the 16th and 18th centuries by the Prince-electors of Saxony, these pieces were first displayed in cabinets of curiosities not only to offer places of study and artistic activity but also to assert their power and influence in politics and society.

The exhibition graphics blend in with the scenography through form and colour. Across the different sections, imposing reproductions of artworks invite visitors to notice and appreciate their most intricate details. The circle shape found throughout the exhibition in maps, globes and wall openings aims to symbolise the world.
